Georgina Impact

Carolyn Grossi and I at the Georgina Link in Sutton, ON

Right before Christmas, I held 2 packing events with youth hockey teams and in total, we packed 300 bundles to go out while I was home in the GTA for the holidays!

On December 22nd, Carolyn Grossi and Routes Georgina, hosted a community lunch at the Link in Sutton, ON and invited me to come to hand bundles out to local residents. Representatives from the local food bank, Sandgate Women’s Shelter, and the Salvation Army Youth Shelter came to the event and each picked up at least 40 bundles, if not more, to bring back and hand out within their shelters. Due to privacy reasons, I would have been unable to go and hand them out myself, thus why they had to come get them from the location.

It was very shocking to hear the number of people that are supported by these shelters daily - especially as you never think there is a homeless population is your own small town. But that said, I was beyond happy to help out my hometown and give back to those who may be overlooked!

With the remaining bundles, I sat in on the community lunch and handed them out to those who were in need of the items inside to help keep them warm. There were 150 people at the lunch which was wonderful to see people connecting!

A huge thank you to Carolyn Grossi for arranging this afternoon and helping me give back 150 bundles to people within Georgina’s borders and bring some light and warmth to their days!
